Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rewatch a YouNow Live after the broadcaster ends the stream?

On YouNow itself — no. YouNow does not keep public broadcast archives; once you tap end, the stream is gone from the app and from your viewers' feeds. On LiveStreamRecorder — yes, because we capture the Live as it airs and serve it back at a permanent URL that doesn't depend on YouNow's app retaining anything.

Will recordings here include the moments and props highlights?

Recordings include the full broadcast — every minute the camera was on, exactly as it aired. YouNow's in-app Moments are auto-generated short clips from the original broadcast, so they're already part of what we capture. Props transactions are an in-app overlay, not part of the video feed; what you'll see is the broadcaster reacting on camera when props come in.

Do I need a YouNow account to watch a recording on LiveStreamRecorder?

No. Every recording plays in any browser without a YouNow login, a coin balance, or the YouNow app installed. The recording is served directly from our CDN, not from YouNow.

Is there a screen recorder I should use instead for YouNow?

Browser screen recorders technically capture YouNow Lives, but they require leaving the YouNow tab open the whole time and stop the moment your phone locks, your laptop sleeps, or your Wi-Fi drops. LiveStreamRecorder runs in the cloud — capture continues whether your device is on or off, and the saved file is exactly the broadcast quality, not your display resolution.

What if the YouNow broadcaster goes private or gets banned?

Recordings we captured before the change remain in the archive at their existing URLs. We don't retroactively remove broadcasts when a creator's YouNow status changes. DMCA and direct creator takedown requests are handled the same way as for every other platform.

Are YouNow recordings here a single file or HLS playlist?

Recordings stream via HLS for fast playback in any browser, and premium users can download the full broadcast as a single MP4 for offline viewing or re-uploading to YouTube / Vimeo / wherever you want it to live next.

Do recordings show the YouNow chat?

The video portion of the broadcast is preserved, including anything the broadcaster reads aloud or reacts to on camera. YouNow's live chat is a separate real-time feed and isn't replayed alongside the recording — but most YouNow broadcasts are conversational enough that the gist of the chat comes through in the broadcaster's reactions.

Do recordings include 18+ filtered content?

LiveStreamRecorder enforces the same content policies as for every other platform: no adult content, no minors, no rights violations. Recordings flagged under our policy or YouNow's published policy are removed when reported through our DMCA / takedown channel.

Watching YouNow recordings on LiveStreamRecorder

YouNow launched in 2011, founded by Adi Sideman in New York. It was one of the earliest dedicated live streaming apps — swipe-through discovery and a coin-and-props gifting economy were both there years before TikTok Live, Twitch IRL, or Instagram Live existed. Through the mid-2010s YouNow built a teen and Gen-Z audience across the US, Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, with broadcasters running just-chatting streams, talent showcases, gameshow nights, music sessions, and overnight company. Today the catalogue is smaller than its peak but the format YouNow helped define still lives here, and the broadcaster base remains strongly international. LiveStreamRecorder captures YouNow Lives as they air and serves them back at a permanent URL, with no YouNow app or login required to watch.

What you can rewatch here

The recordings span the formats YouNow's audience actually broadcasts: chat streams, singing and dance talents, gameshow rooms, language-learning Lives across English and Arabic and Spanish and Portuguese, late-night company streams from the Americas, and the broadcaster-to-fan tipping moments that built YouNow's props economy. Every Live is captured in full, so the arc of the broadcast — from the first viewers joining to the broadcaster ending the stream — is preserved end to end and replayable anywhere.

Why a separate archive matters

YouNow itself doesn't keep public broadcast archives. The moment a broadcaster taps end, the Live is gone from the app — there's no rewind, no profile-side VOD list, no way for viewers who missed it to catch up later. YouNow's auto-generated Moments preserve short highlight clips chosen by the algorithm or the broadcaster, but the full broadcast — the slow build, the unexpected guests, the long stretches that make a YouNow Live feel like company rather than content — isn't recoverable from Moments alone. A LiveStreamRecorder archive is the only durable copy: a permanent web URL anyone can open without the YouNow app, plays in any browser, and survives long after the broadcaster has moved on to a new Live.
